District 9: Proof that We Will Never Have a Good Video Game Movie?
Okay, its been a while (which saying that sadly reminds me of that awful song from a few years back).  Anyway, I'm here to do another pseudo-movie review where I don't actually review the movie I just watched.  Confused?  Good.

So I saw District 9 about a week ago.  If you don't know what that movie is you are seriously out of the loop (and you didn't read my movie preview lis...

Cassel Could Miss Week One
What should have been the most important game for Matt Cassel, thus far as a Chief, ended abruptly by hobbling unassisted off the field.

According to Yahoo Sports, Cassel suffered a sprained MCL in Saturday night's pre-season game against Seattle.  The fact that Cassel was able to walk off the field without help was a reassuring sign of nothing permanent.  However, an MCL sprain typical...

Preseason What2Watch4
Starters only play for a possession or three. Even when they do play, it's hard to tell if they are going up against a full squad of starters or not. So as a fantasy owner, how are you supposed to tell which players will pay off, and which will leave you looking forward to next season. Well, if you are like me, you are not going to be giving your full attention to every game before week one, but h... (continue)
Random musings on sports and other subjects

1.      Michael Vickplays again – It was good to see him back and I hope he uses this opportunityto become a better man, a better parent and a better football player.
2.      GI Joe Rules– Very good movie with lots of action and beautiful women.  GI Joe ranks third behind Transformers 2 andTerminator Salvation as my summer movie favorites.
3.      Fair and Square – Of course someone has already...

Nyjer Morgan Done for 2009?
It looks like Nyjer Morgan’s 2009 campaign is over, as he broke the second metacarpal bone in his left hand on Thursday.  The injury occurred while Morgan was stealing third base, and sliding in head first.  Morgan had gotten on base with a walk, and then proceeded to steal both second and third.  He would stay in the game to score, but did not take the field to start the botto... Just a cog in the machine
Former Super Bowl Champion Quarterback, Joe Theisman recentlysaid “The Quarterback position is the most dependent position on the footballfield” Theisman gave an example of Tom Brady who  gets a ton of credit for the Patriots three superbowl victories but the margin of victory in each of their super bowls is only 3points. So the only thing that separates Tom Brady from being the next FranTark... (continue)
A change (of scenery) will do them good
Thanks to the lovely and talented Sheryl Crow who gave me the inspiration for this blog at zero dark thirty this morning. Like real estate, sports is all about location-location-location. Their are many teams that might fare better if they considered a change of venue.

1. The LA Clippers - When the Seattle Sonics decided to bolt for greener pastures even though the Seattle fan base is pretty g...

Adam LaRoche is the Answer?
When the Braves brought Adam LaRoche back, we were pretty confused as to why (other than his expiring contract).  Well, 20 games in and the answer is pretty clear.  Check out what “Clutch” has been doing so far:

.406 AVG
.500 OBP
.739 SLG
1.239 OPS
7 HR
16 RBI
15 Runs
14 BB
19 KsOh, he has yet to make an error as well.  Hats off to Frank Wren for pulling the trigger on this o...

Top Secret: Drafting Formula
This year is an interesting one for fantasy football. The buzz word is PPR (Points Per Reception) and it is changing the way fantasy owners are viewing their drafts. With a league using PPR scoring, Wide Receivers become a much more valuable asset. However, you still can not deny the value of a solid running back who is going to get a lot of touches inside of the red zone and has the ability to br... (continue)
Hill to start for the 49ers in opener
Mike Singletary announced today that Shaun Hill will be the team's starting quarterback in the season opener at Arizona.

With that said, the countdown to when Alex Smith train departing San Francisco is on.  The #1 overall draft pick in 2005 can now follow in the footsteps of some of the other #1 overall QB 'busts' that preceded him; David Carr, Tim Couch, Jeff George, etc.

I can't i...
