Artist Insurance: Protection Not Just for the Artist

Buying an insurance policy is a must for all those engaged in trading goods and services and that includes talented individuals like professionals artists. An artist insurance policy may sound to be insignificant knowing that artists rarely leave their studio, they travel less and mingle with people rarely. So, why does an artist need to procure an insurance coverage? Well, artists have their own works to secure and these are art pieces that can have very high market values. Each piece is a work of an imagination and to produce one item based on many hours of inspiration, sweat and sleepless nights is already a hard labor for an artist. The time investment and the talent poured in each art work is a priceless commodity. Yet most artists undervalue their own work; no wonder many of them do not have an insurance coverage too. For budding artists who expect to become well known selling a lot of art works in the future, the best time to secure an insurance protection is now.

An insurance policy will protect artists from any potential legal action that may be filed against him or her. While this may be quite remote, some accidents may take place while the artists are displaying the paintings or other art materials in their booth. Many things can possibly happen while the exhibit is being set up. For example, a customer may be injured from a painting that is suddenly unhooked from place or a buyer may slip or trip and get injured while inside the artist’s booth. An art show insurance coverage can be utilized to settle the bills such as hospitalization costs and other expenses related to the incident. Artists can also insure their staff or anybody they wish to include in their business since basically the people under the artist’s care is his own responsibility if they get injured while on a scheduled show.
